Well, we’re already ten days into September and I’m finally getting around to blogging about my August reads. But I have a good reason. I finished my book proposal! Or at least, it’s finished for the time being. Now is the part in the process where I wait, which means I have time to catch up on other things. (Like blogging and indulging in a new old hobby. More on that in a minute!)

#mugshotmonday: shades of green stacking rings and a cozy sweater
It’s been a while since I’ve done a handmade mug post, so I thought I’d share this gorgeous mug by Bella Joy Pottery with some of my stacking rings in Emerald Green and a cozy sweater. I love that this combo could just as easily slide from fall to holiday appropriate, and I’m loving the play of all the similar but slightly different greens!
in the mood for monochrome: handmade mug and stacking rings in Faded Teal
I have all these grand plans to photograph the new stacking rings in lots of different color combos! But for now, I’m really digging the monochrome vibe, so I’m sticking with it!
Handmade mug is by Bell Joy Pottery and stacking rings in Faded Teal are available now in my online store!
new mugs to match my new blue stacking rings
Like most people, I’ve been confined to online shopping these days. So far, most of my online shopping has consisted of nail polish (I’ve got to coordinate with my new colorful rings!) and handmade ceramics. I’ve been a pretty avid ceramics collector the past few years, and I’m trying to do my part now to help support my fellow artists. (Not that I really needed an excuse!)
Luckily, some of my favorite ceramic artists have been crushing it lately with gorgeous new work. And even better still, I loved how when I pulled my new Bella Joy Pottery (above) and Briggs Shore Ceramics (below) mugs out of their boxes, they just happened to perfectly match my nails and new stacking rings!
#mugshotmonday: Bella Joy Pottery and colorful chain bracelets
I’m always amazed by how what I’m focusing on in the studio can shift my attention. Right around the time I started making my new colorful jewelry, I noticed that Heidi of Bella Joy Pottery was playing around with lots of new colorful mugs. The truth is that Heidi’s work as always been really colorful, I just happened to gravitate towards her black and neutral mugs.
But as my colorful jewelry line coincided with a craving for color throughout my life, I was totally drawn to Heidi’s new work. So I bought myself this beautiful mug. (And I’d be lying if I said I haven’t bought a few more since!) I just love how well it plays with the colors in my new bracelets!
#mugshotmonday: Elizabeth Benotti mug and silver on steel stacking rings
I shared this Elizabeth Benotti mug with an adorable faux tree (and with my most popular statement necklace), but I felt it deserved a #mugshotmonday post of it’s own! Mostly because I love this mug! And I love how it looks with my silver on steel stacking rings!
handmade holiday: faux tree in handmade ceramic mug (with silver on steel rings)
Another day, another faux tree in a handmade ceramic mug. What can I say, I like what I like! Mug by Elizabeth Benotti. Silver on steel stacking rings by me! (And available in my online store!)
#mugshotmonday: Gina DeSantis mug and silver on steel stacking rings
Ever since I brought back my silver on steel stacking rings, I’ve been finding myself craving more texture in other things in my life. I’m not sure if it’s a need for some hygge now that temps are dropping and days or shorter, or just that I’m tired of mass-produced crap and really want to see (and feel) the hand of the maker, but whatever the reason, texture is my jam right now. (I even started a new Pinterest board to celebrate the tactile qualities of handmade products.)
Which is why I was so excited to get my hands on (pun intended) this beautiful textured mug from Gina DeSantis. It fits my desire for texture perfectly. (And fun fact, Gina and I went to grad school together! We were even in the same MFA show. Which makes for a really great connection to this mug. Definitely not something you’d get from a mass-produced cup!)
#mugshotmonday: Bella Joy Pottery and silver on steel stacking rings
In case you aren’t familiar, #mugshotmonday is a hashtag on Instagram where potters and ceramic artists share their mugs. And while I’m not a potter (clay is too squishy, I’ll stick to metal, thanks) I am an avid collector of handmade ceramic mugs! So I decided that #mugshotmonday would be a good way to show off some of my favorites from my own collection, give a shoutout to some of my favorite makers, and show you how well handcrafted ceramics pair with my own handcrafted rings!
I mean, can’t you just imagine sipping your daily dose of caffeine from this lovely Bella Joy Pottery mug while rocking your silver on steel stacking rings?!
the perfect pairing: silver on steel stacking rings and handmade ceramic mug
Thinking about fall yesterday made me want to cozy up with a cup of tea in a handmade mug. Especially when I’ve got a gorgeous handmade mug by Elizabeth Benotti that pairs so perfectly with my new silver on steel stacking rings! Which are available now in my online store!
