Unfortunately, I didn’t get the new fine silver and steel pieces in the shop yesterday like I was hoping to do. Time got away from me!
I can’t believe its May already. How did that happen? I’ve got so much to do – wholesale orders, prepping for shows, etc… On deck for May – 3 craft shows, a trip to Santa Fe, and a triathlon. Perhaps I’ll relax in June. (Oh, wait – June – 4 craft shows…. perhaps July?)
Oh well, off to be a little production machine.
shop update!
The week of shop updates has begun! Tonight its a collection of steel and silver leaf chains.
preview
I’m still working on photography and image processing for my planned shop update this week – but until then, here’s a little preview of one of the new necklaces.
photo shoot
Its really difficult to photograph jewelry on yourself by yourself. I think its time to invest in a remote for my camera.
what i’m reading: the tipping point
Sometimes after I read something very academic and dense, I need to follow it up with something a little lighter. Which means I’m finally getting around to reading The Tipping Point, which seems like a requisite book for anyone even slightly interested in business. So far, (and I’m about halfway in) even though its an interesting read, I’m still waiting for something to click, for the part that feels really relevant and useful.
more new
new
After steadily churning out production for over a month now, I gave myself permission to experiment with new designs today. That translates into some new rings, new earring variations, and a new necklace that came to me first in a dream. (I’m so not kidding about that.)
I’m off for a bike ride and run, then perhaps back into the studio…
"i should be in that"
Here’s a little insight into how my mind works…
Logs onto Etsy homepage… “Hey, a black and white collection – I should be in that.”
Scrolls down… “Oh wait, I am.”
And then two minutes later while reading the Storque. “Hey, an article about chain. I should be in that.”
Scrolls down… “Oh wait, I am.”
Thanks to Etsy for the love today!
spring cleaning
Yesterday, I did a little cleaning to make room for the newest addition to my studio! This press belonged to my grandfather, who passed away a little over a month ago. (He had actually promised the press to me before he died.) My grandfather was a machinist, and has more tools than I’ve ever seen in my life. My press needs a few small modifications before its functioning, but hopefully that will be very soon.
flip-flops
Quite the difference from a few months ago. I’m really enjoying the first truly warm day in my studio.
Happy Friday!
