I mentioned before how much I love the way the Contra and Silver on Steel collections play together without being too matchy-matchy. And while I love the ring and bracelet combo from this post, my ultimate favorite summer combination is the Giant Circle Earrings and a Contra Pendant. Especially when paired with a graphic black and white dress!

statement earrings for summer
When I first re-introduced my silver on steel collection, I started with the same sizes I had used in the original collection. But, true to form, I immediately found myself craving larger styles. And nowhere was that more true than in earrings.
While I may be a necklace girl most of the year, summer has me craving statement earrings. There’s just something nice about a statement accessory that doesn’t cling to you in the heat!
So I set out to create pretty much my perfect summer statement earrings, and I think I pretty much hit it out of the park with these giant silver on steel statement earrings. They’re super lightweight, full of impact, and incredibly unique.
Plus, they work with so many different summer styles, I’ve worn them with dresses and running shorts, and they work equally well with both! (And if you want your own pair, they’re available now in my online store.)
summer style: jumpsuit and statement earrings
I have to admit that I originally found it hard to get on board with the whole jumpsuit thing. But like pretty much any other piece in your wardrobe, it just comes down to finding one that’s cut in a way that’s right for your body type. (For me, that means a jumpsuit with a little more room in the middle, since I don’t have a clearly defined waste.) So if you’ve resisted jumpsuits because they “don’t work with your body,” I’d highly recommend giving a few a try. You might be surprised at how much you love them when you find one that works for you!

breezy summer style: colorblock skirt and statement earrings
I love it when an outfit manages to be simple (and comfortable) and still look chic at the same time, and this look certainly fits the bill. A breezy skirt and simple tank keeps you cool on even the hottest days, and a serious pair of statement earrings add visual interest. (Without needing to worry about jewelry sticking to your skin.)
1/ v-neck cami // 2/ volta skirt // 3/ mocal statement earrings // 4/ crossbody bag // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ t-strap sandal
a summery, 70s vibe (with statement earrings)
Last summer, I styled this outfit (inspired by the host of my favorite TV show, States of Undress) with a necklace from my Contra Collection. But since that necklace is sold out (and since I just found out Season 2 of States of Undress comes out next month!!) I thought it would be fun to revisit the look with my new statement earrings.
1/ denim top // 2/ cropped culottes // 3/ mocal statement earrings // 4/ ombre clutch // 5/ denim espadrilles
street style inspired: bell sleeves and statement earrings
Just when it was finally starting to feel like summer here in my part of Pennsylvania, we got hit with yet another cold, rainy weekend. About the only upside is that it inspired me to put together this outfit featuring two major style trends, bell sleeves and statement earrings, which works much better when the temps are in the 60s, rather than the 80s!
1/ bell sleeve top // 2/ girlfriend jeans // 3/ mocal statement earrings // 4/ faye clutch // 5/ leather slipper
chic summer style: midi skirt, wedges, and statement earrings
Ok, I’ll admit. I’m finally all in on the statement earring trend. It’s not that I don’t love big earrings (a few years ago, I spent the whole summer designing long, asymmetrical earrings) it’s just that last summer I was so enamored with the statement necklaces of the Contra Collection. But even I have to admit that as summer heat sets in, it can be hard to work up the motivation to wear a massive necklace. Enter statement earrings – which can have just as much impact without getting stuck to sweaty summer skin. And since many of the necklaces I featured in last summer’s style posts are now sold out, I thought it would be fun to update some of my favorite looks from last summer with pieces from the new collection. After all, what better way to breath new life into your wardrobe than with some fun new accessories?!?

Matisse-inspired hoop statement earrings
Lately, I’ve been working on a series of new jewelry designs inspired by Matisse’s paper cut-outs. I love the idea of turning these flat shapes into three-dimensional forms, like these hoop earrings. (Though as you can see from the image below, they’re pretty great flat too!)

blue and burgundy (earrings and rings) for fall
I’m finally finding myself embracing fall color palettes, and no color says fall to me more than this gorgeous Lush Burgundy! (You’ll find the Lush Burgundy stacking rings in my online store.) But I’m also loving it with Azure Blue, especially in these Rachel earrings!
the perfect modern statement necklace to wear with a white t-shirt
The other weekend I was photographing new pendants for the Essaint collection on a white t-shirt (since I’m super into that now) and I realized it was TIME to add a statement necklace to the collection. So I headed into my studio (ok, to be fair, I was already in my studio, but I stopped the photo shoot and made my way to my work bench) and this was the result:
